Singer/Songwriter
My name is Roxanne Redd. Yes that is my real name! I was born Roxanne Henley, and then married a Redd. No longer married, but I got a pretty cool name out of the deal. With the name Henley, I imagine I am related to Don Henley. Hmmmmmm... Well... some of my ancestors ARE from England. Hello cousin Don.
I have been told that I have a soothing voice, and a gift for creating beautiful melodies and harmonies, with songs that are modern, real life, and even conversational.
I have loved to sing and write as long as I can remember. I wrote songs as a kid with just my voice as my instrument before I learned to play the guitar. It is one of my life's greatest joys. Like the Red Hot Chili Peppers say "Music is my aeroplane!"
I sing locally here in Omaha Nebraska. Yep, Omaha Nebraska. Don't knock it till you rock it. We have a lot of wonderful musicians here. And hey...Lady Gaga likes it here! :) She even wrote a song about it! Okay back to me...besides performing, I am also pitching my songs for use in films, tv, and for use by other artists. Maybe one day you'll hear one of them on a movie sound track and say "Hey that's the Redd girl's song from Omaha Nebraska who might just be cousins or something with Don Henley!" :)
I've had some accomplishments...working on a fourth CD. I was a finalist in the Unisong International Song Contest with my song, “You're Good Enough.” And I even got some positive feedback about my songs and voice from my singer/songwriter role model, Stephen Bishop. That was great! He's the guy that wrote the song "Separate Lives" that Phil Collins sang. He also sang the theme song "It Might Be You" from the movie "Tootsie". Oh, how I love that one!
I also participated in a national September 11 memorial project with my song, "Colors". For more information on this project, please visit: http://pro5.com/colors.
Thanks for checking me out! Listen to my songs please. Visit my guest book and tell me what you think. :)
